Fire-retardant intumescent Pirex-Metal paint is designed to increase the fire-resistance limit of steel building structures underо SNiP 2.01.02-85 and according to NPB–236–97 is referred to Group 4 of fire-resistance rating. The indicated result is achieved at the aggregate thickness of dry coating layer, including fire-retardant paint and GF-021 base, comprising 1.2 mm (the base layer thickness comprises 0.05 mm, paint - 1.15 mm), which is ensured by the application of paint with the consumption of 2.05 kg/m2 (without any account for the losses).

The Pirex-Metal fire-retardant water-dispersion paint (TU 2316-025-13238275-03) is a suspension of target components and coloring agents in water dispersions of synthetic polymers with the addition of modifying, stabilizing, and other additives. Has white color, tinting is possible.

Pirex-Metal paints was permitted for application by the Center of State Sanitary and Epidomiological Control of Moscow.

APPLICATIONS

Painting any steel building structures, which are supposed to meet the fire-resistance requirements under SNiP 2.01.02-85.

BRIEF APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

The painting operations should be performed with the ambient temperature, the temperature of the protected structures and the paint itself from + 5° to + 40°C. The optimum temperature is 20–25°C. The relative air humidity must not exceed 85 %.

The steel structures must be cleaned from dirt and rust, and degreased. Before applying Pirex-Metal fire-retardant paint the metal surfaces must be necessarily primed by GF-021 orи EP-0010 primer. Painting must be carried out at least 24 hours after priming (at the temperature not below plus 20°). If painting is carried out at lower temperatures, the primer layer drying period must be increased according to the application recommendations.

Before the application the paint must be stirred thoroughly. The paint is produced fully ready for use, it is allowed to dilute it with water in the amount of not more than 15 % of the paint weight. The paint is applied by the followign methods:

-  airless spraying – 2-3 layers;

-  by a brush, roll applicator, hydraulic spraying – 3-5 layers.

The number of the layers is determined by making the final thickness of the dry paint layer not less than 1.15 mm, which corresponds to the consumption rate of 2.05 kg/m2 (without account for losses).

The duration of each layer drying must comprise at least 12 hours at 20°C. The duration of the final drying comprises 24-48 hours, depending on the application method and the thickness of the coating.
