PURPOSE
The Pirex firebio prof compound was designed for fire and biological protection treatment of wooden elements of residential and industrial buildings and structures, as well as other outside and inside wooden structures, in order to provide a lasting protection from combustion, decay and mildew; for fire and biological protection treatment of sawn timber during warehousing, transportation and storage.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Pirex firebio prof compound (TU 2499-040-13238275-2006) is an aqueous based solution of a composite non-saline fire retardant with the addition of antiseptic, disinfectant and stabilizing agents. When used indoors (including unheated and damp areas), as well as outdoors under an open shed, the compound will provide for Group 1 of fire resistance rating (with the consumption of 280 g/m2) and Group 2 (with the consumption of 180 g/m2). When used outdoors (external walls and elements of buildings and structures), the compound will provide for lasting protection according to Group 2 of fire resistance rating (with the consumption of 280 g/m2) As a result of the treatment, a chemically modified layer is formed on the wood surface, which efficiently protects wood against fire and the spread of the flame about the surface. This is due to the fact that as a result of the exposure to flame the following processes shall occur: on the one hand, the components of the fire retardant will intensively decompose emitting a large amount of non-combustible gases and water vapours, which will draw the heat off (cooling the wood), dilute the combustible gases emitted from the wood surface и drive oxygen away from the fire impact area; on the other hand, they form on the surface a continuous, solid and non-combustible coke layer preventing the emission of combustible wood decomposition products (it is these products which sustain combustion) and blocking the access of oxygen to the wood surface.
Yields a golden brown hue to the treated wood. The Pirex firebio prof compound is approved by the Territorial Administration of the Federal Supervision Authority for Consumers Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing for the City of Moscow. The compound is certified.
ADVANTAGES
- Makes it possible to treat wood at the temperature of wood and ambient temperature reaching -20oС.
- Coating life up to 10 years.
- Exceptionally high fire resistance properties by low consumption of the compound.
- Makes it possible to obtain slow-burning (Group 1 of fire-resistance rating) or non-flammable (Group 2) wood, depending on the consumption and operating conditions.
- Does not impede the natural wood breathing.
- Penetrates deep into the wood structure, preserving the wood texture visible.
- Possible storage and temperature without temperature limitations.
- Does not produce any saline deposits.
- Suppresses and eliminates the existing fungi, mildew and moss from the wood, possesses disinfecting properties.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The compound should be applied to the wood surface, stripped of bark, sapwood and free from contamination, not treated with any paints or varnishes, with the moisture level not exceeding 30 %, with a brush (artificial bristle), or by air or airless spraying, applying several layers (letting each layer dry for at least 1.5 hours), or by dipping, until the corresponding amount of the compound is consumed. The temperature of the wood and the ambient temperature during the treatment must not be less than -20oС. No special drying techniques need be used.
PRECAUTIONS
The Pirex firebio prof compound produces an irritant effect on the skin and mucous membranes. All work should be carried out using natural or artificial ventilation and obligatory personal protective equipment (protective clothing, rubber gloves, air mask and protective goggles). Wash the exposed skin with a solution of baking soda. The compound is reactive to ferrous and non-ferrous metals. May result in damage to clothing and other fabrics. Keep away from children!
